Carolyn Diaz, Managing Director of Express Employment Professionals South Africa, joined Express as a franchisee in 2006. She had 15 years staffing industry experience and owned a very successful independent staffing firm when she decided to team up with Express. Her vivacious personality and leadership skills quickly became very apparent to all who had any contact with her. In 2007, Express Headquarters contacted her about taking on a very serious and important leadership role within the company and she graciously accepted the challenging role of Managing Director. Even though she gives direction to the Franchise offices, all 14 Express Franchises are independently managed by their franchise owners. Since she took over the leadership role, Express South Africa has earned the highest profit ever. Through her efforts, Express has become a reputable franchise staffing firm in South Africa.

Our current franchise fee of R250 000 excluding VAT, includes training for one week at our head office in Centurion prior to opening, 1 week On-The-Job training with the developer team, and one week of On-The-Job training by our EU Trainer in your franchise office the week after unboxing. Continuous learning is encouraged through our online access to Express University.

The franchise fee also includes all internal and external operating documentation, branding, marketing material, in-house HR/IR division, Marketing department, IT assistance centre, Payroll division to facilitate all your payroll needs, and a Finance department to assist with managing invoicing to clients. Our on-site Commercial Manager also assists with ensuring all documentation is legally correct.
All this allows you to focus on sales, build relationships with clients, and not have to worry about bankrolling payroll for the hundreds of temps your will have, and waiting for clients’ payments.

Your franchise fee also includes the following Express IT requirements:-
• 1 x Server
• 2 x Desktop Workstations
• 1 x Router
• 1 x Fingerprint reader

Because the Express Employment Professionals initial franchise fee won’t be your only expense, you will also be required to have the necessary funding to set up a functional office in a business area if you do not have one already established, as well as costs for inventory and insurance. All computers and additional equipment as required in the franchise agreement will be purchased by Express SA head office and recouped from the franchisees over an agreed upon period.

CONVERSION PROSPECT FRANCHISEE

Existing staffing company converting a headcount and clients to an Express Franchise.
Franchise fee to be negotiated dependant on headcount conversion and number of clients currently being billed.
Existing computer equipment will be audited to ensure all are up to spec with the Express system.

Attributes of a Successful Franchisee
• Be willing and able to learn new skills.
As the operating manager of a franchise, you will take on a multitude of roles, from a trainer to watchdog to customer service to financial advisor. The franchisor sets the brand standards, but they are not responsible for how the franchisee’s day-to-day business is run. It is a steep learning curve, but if you can master these new skills, you can become a successful franchisee.

• Be able and willing to follow system standards.
As a franchisee, you are agreeing to follow Express Employment Professionals’ operating system, often including specific requirements for what marketing materials to use, what suppliers you must work with, and what specific products or services you must offer.
This, along with the licensing rights and restrictions on how you can use the franchisor’s intellectual property, is what you are investing in. In exchange for this ready-made operating system, a franchisee has to report their sales and expenses, follow instructions on how to present the products and services, and comply with the franchisor’s advertising requirements. Every day, week, month, and year, the franchisee will be following protocols set up by the franchisor. If the franchisee fails to meet our brand standards, you risk being in breach of your franchise agreement

• Daily commitment and discipline.
As a franchisee, your success is measured each day in your franchise’s performance, requiring more self-reliance than many corporate managers have had to demonstrate. However, our well-structured franchised system will provide a level of support that contributes to the franchise’s success.

Franchisees are comprehensively trained in Oklahoma City for 1 full week. Thereafter, one week’s training at Head Quarters in Centurion and an additional week with an Express SA head office representative on the official opening of your Express office.
