Social media and online marketing is just a big waste of time and energy resources. Speaking as someone who lives and works in the virtual world, I can honestly tell you that for most it is a big waste of time. It consumes your time as well as your energy. You can hop onto Facebook and without realising spend hours doing stuff and then realising “oh shoot it’s 11pm I must go and sleep”. The question to always ask yourself is, “Am I using this strategically?” “Do I even know what I am really doing?” “Those I’ve outsourced work to, do they understand my brand at the core and how to take it further?”
We can all agree on one thing, the world has changed! Navigating the worldwide web is second nature to some but can be very foreign and daunting to most. As we look at current and future trends, the online world is here to stay. Marketing your business online, working virtually, networking virtually and connecting in the online world will become the norm for many.
There are many advantages to working from home and being able to attend events online from the comfort of your own home. You don’t have to sit in traffic, you save time in travelling to and from the event venue and you don’t have to organise a babysitter to look after the kids. You can participate in events while cooking, while having dinner the choice is yours. What the reset has done is given people more options and it has allowed people to go with the flow. This means we’ve learnt to understand that anything can happen, like your kid interrupting you on a very important meeting.
The importance of a social media manager or social media content creator
Many of us have this in place already and it is vital if you are going to keep up with everything you need to do. As a franchisor or business owner you cannot be spending your time creating content to post on social media, this chews up a lot of your valuable time. So it is important that you have someone who can ideally schedule and find content for you to post. The question is how are you going to stand out in the noise because everyone is doing it!
Why you need to be visible and active online networking in social media
Once you’ve handed over the scheduling and management of your online presence to someone else, you cannot expect magic to happen without your presence. In essence you are your business and the biggest brand of your business. You are the person people want to connect with, not your marketing agency. Your marketing agency plays their part in ensuring that your company has a presence. But in most instances when I browse companies’ online presence, it’s like the lights are on and nobody’s home.
Social media is the place to be if you are feeling stuck. It is the place to be to generate leads. It is the place to be to network. Do you know how and where to start so you don’t waste your valuable time?
