Reflect, re-energise and re-group for the decade ahead

As we sit on the cusp of a new decade and head into the throes of the 4th Industrial Revolution, never before have we questioned our place in the new world order or have had to reassure ourselves that we can still be effective entrepreneurs.
See the bigger picture
Having a vision is one of the main traits of a true entrepreneur who at all times must remain focused on the bigger picture. Knowing not just how and what to do but knowing why and viewing the whole and not just its parts is crucial to staying the course.
Adapt to Change
Part of seeing that ‘bigger picture’ is also being able to see where things need to change. In our fast-changing world that is key to staying ahead of the game. Revising your 10-year, 5-year, 2-year and one year plan on a regular basis allows you to see the pitfalls, identify the opportunities and act accordingly.
Change your attitude
Negativity is contagious and we are continuously blasted with bad news and dire warnings of worse things to come. Avoid being swept up in the general sea of uncertainty and negativity will only drag you down. The only way to survive and thrive is by staying positive and seeing the silver lining in every situation will give you the edge when things do turn around,
Manage your expectations
There is a fine line between being too negative and over-the-top positive and it comes down to managing your expectations realistically. Approaching challenges with a clear head and weighing up the pros and cons will go a long way to navigating the choppy waters. Don’t hold on to things that are clearly not working and find ways to improve what you are already doing.
Lean on others
Don’t be afraid to lean on others – whether it’s your family or friends to ease the pressures of the daily stresses or to professional colleagues who could shed a different light or give you a new perspective or solution to a problem you face. As our triumph at the Rugby World Cup showed, working together with determination and positivity can lead to success
Be prepared
As we head into the future with its many challenges, being prepared is going to make or break the status quo. Educate yourself on what exactly the 4th Industrial Revolution is all about and study the implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI), The Internet of Things (IoT), Algorithms, Virtual Reality and all the other technological developments to see if any of those advancements can be brought into your business to make you more effective.
Take a break
Finally, as we close off 2019, take a break with family and friends to de-stress, reflect on the past year, re-charge the batteries ahead of the new decade and re-group in the new year re-energized and ready to take on the new world!
