The inception of Legend Barber Shop traces back to 2011 when its founder, Sheldon Tatchell, commenced operations on the sidewalks of Eldorado Park. In 2014, Sheldon marked a significant milestone by inaugurating the first official shop, a success that prompted subsequent branches to emerge, extending from Soweto to Cape Town. As of the conclusion of 2022, Legends Barbershop has burgeoned to encompass more than 50 outlets, including a VIP mobile unit. Notably, over 30 of these establishments operate as franchise stores, attesting to the remarkable growth and success of the enterprise.
Although origins of the Legends Barbershop date back early as the year 2011, the barbershop really started making headway in 2014 after the founder decided to leave his corporate job in banking to follow his lifelong dream, which was to show South Africa his hair cutting talent. Passionate about serving people and wanting to make a difference in the communities.
10 years later, and still going strong the Legends Barbershop franchise has grown to over 50 barbershops nationally and international, and one mobile bus, which is the first in South Africa. A-listing celebrities have been seen posting and promoting the business with their personal encounters through either experiencing the mobile service or visiting one of the barbershops.
Other activities which have also put Legends Barbershop on the map have been corporate events, which the Legends Barbershop team constantly get invited to and, also social inclusive programs which the team drive monthly to give members a haircut which in return helps build back the individuals self-confidence.
