Background and History

In 1945, Anats grandfather started the falafel and shwarma family business and, two generations later, its still going strong. 1991: In South Africa, Anat started from mobile unit at Bruma Flea Market, now with 19 stores throughout the country… Anat Falafel & Shwarma has certainly made its mark. 1999: Anats Bakery was founded. It supplies fresh Pita daily to all our branches, as well as to major Supermarket Chains. Anats Kitchen in Johannesburg and Cape Town manufacture meat products, pickles and sauces for our outlets.

Franchisee Profile

The ideal size for an Anat store is 45-50 m2, excluding seating and preferably with an entrance opening of 6 meters wide plus. A big factor to take into account when looking for a suitable location is; theres to be good visibility and passing foot traffic. In order to maintain consistency, the franchisees are required to purchase their meat product, pickles, sauces and packaging as well as Pita bread, Falafel and Hummus from our central kitchen. We will help, advise and negotiate site selection in order to ensure costs, location and general feasibility are all in order. We require the store to be owner-run for the benefit of the business; typically five staff and a manager are required to run a shift.
