Miyelani Maluleke is a Macroeconomic Strategist in the South Africa Macroeconomics team. Prior to joining Absa in June 2013, he was a Senior Economist in National Treasury’s economic policy division where he worked as part of the microeconomic policy unit focusing on mining and earlier as part of the modelling and forecasting team. He has also worked as a trainee economist at the Bureau for Economic Research at the University of Stellenbosch and before that as an academic assistant at the University of South Africa. Amongst other academic qualifications, he holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Like the rest of the world, our economy is taking strain and a post COVID-19 recovery will take as long as five years but if we all work together to build an inclusive economy that stimulates business opportunities that in turn create jobs, South Africa can recover and prosper.
