From its one modest store established in 1974, to Timbercity™`s acquisition by the JSE-quoted JD Group in 2011, this service-based chain has come a long way. The successful Timbercity brand was initially established in 1974 by two independent entrepreneurs in Parow, Cape Town. In 2004 the Steinhoff group gained ownership of Timbercity through its acquisition of PG Bison, and their retail arm, SteinBuild, was born. SteinBuild now forms part of the JD Group, with Steinhoff being the majority shareholder.
Timbercity outlets stock a wide range of products, from timber, boards and shelving, to kitchen hardware and accessories, worktops, joinery, mouldings and building materials.
