Join the Board of Fasa as a Director and become a part of a group of individuals who represent member companies and jointly oversee the activities of FASA.

Serving on the Board should be seen as a privilege and be taken seriously as Board members provide strategic direction, make decisions and oversee FASA’s financial health and well-being.  This is a voluntary position that requires your time and commitment.

Being a member of the FASA Board is a serious responsibility, and as a director, you must adhere to a standard of conduct set out in the Companies Act, including acting in good faith and for a proper purpose, in the best interest of the company, and with a degree of care, skill, and diligence that may be reasonably expected of a person in your position.

In addition, as a director, you may be held accountable for any loss, damages, or costs sustained by the Company as a consequence of any breach of your duty.

What are the responsibilities of Board members and what is expected of Board members:

  • Attend Board member meetings regularly
  • Attend FASA’s virtual networking events regularly.
  • Be active on social media and support FASA platforms.
  • Review and comment on minutes.
  • Report to stakeholders on the organisation’s performance.
  • Participate in stakeholders’ Events and programmes in furtherance of FASA’s objectives.
  • Required to always keep all Board discussions confidential, unless otherwise advised.

Who serves on the board?

The Board consists of –

  • 5 ex officio directors (the CEO, Chair, Immediate Past Chair, Chair Elect and Honorary Legal Adviser) and
  • Up to 6 directors elected by members.

Criteria to sit on the Board:

  • Must be a FASA member.
  • Membership fees must be up to date.
  • Must be a member for 2 years or longer.

The purpose of collecting information from applicants seeking to serve on the Board is to provide members of the Association with the information they need to make an informed decision when casting their votes.

By supplying us with the relevant information, you are enabling us to share important details about your background, skills, and qualifications with the members, allowing them to get to know you and make an informed choice. The more information we can share with members, the better equipped they will be to vote for you, so it is in your best interest to provide us with as much detail as possible.

How to apply to sit on the Board of FASA:

  • Complete the application form to nominate yourself or someone else to sit on the Board.
  • Record a short 2 minute video to gain votes at the AGM.

What happens once you’ve applied:

  • Board members will go through nominations to check that nominees meet all FASA’s requirements.
  • The Board may run an election to appoint you to the Board or an election will take place at the AGM.
  • Each nominee will be profiled in FASA’s newsletter and also in an email addressed to FASA members only before the AGM and also promoted on social media.
  • Once elected, you will be notified by the Office and an Induction will be arranged for you.
  • Once elected, you will be contacted to set up a video-recorded interview.
  • Once elected you will become legible to attend Board meetings once elected.
