Reviewing the complaints brought to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombudsman (CGSO) indicates that the South African public is coming to terms with its rights under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and how consumer protection regulations are being put into action.
Consumers have complained about everything from pornographic downloads found on a computer after repair, to broken television screens, wedding gowns damaged by dry cleaners and incorrect prices advertised.

SKILLS EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT LAGGING AMONG BLACK AFRICANS

Government’s ‘Youth employment, unemployment, skills and economic growth 1994-2014’ report, released recently, noted that, during the 20-year period, skilled employment among black Africans only increased by three percentage points, compared with increases of 26 percentage points and 19 percentage points respectively in the Indian/Asian and white categories.
