Jobs Fund Allocates Funds to Create Jobs in the Franchise Sector

In a groundbreaking move that will see franchising play a major role in growing the economy, government's Jobs Fund has allocated funds to FASA members Hot Dog Cafe and Business Partners/SA Franchise Warehouse to create employment by making qualified franchise opportunities available to suitable candidates. Hot Dog Cafe, the first to be awarded R17 million in funding from the Jobs Fund has matched that with over R18 million from Hot Dog Cafe's other funding partners, the Public Investment Corporation (Isabaya Fund), the National Empowerment Fund and the Masisizane Fund. The programme will train and mentor 372 cadets over a 3-year period of which 310 will be gainfully employed and of these 60 will become business owners. A third application for funding is being made by FASA to carry on this initiative through its members. For more information contact FASA Chairman Derek Smith at derek@hotdogcafe.co.za or Kobus Oosthuizen at kobus@safw.co.za
