TASTE HOLDINGS INTRODUCES NEW JEWELLERY BRAND

Since acquiring the successful NWJ Jewellery brand, Taste Holdings has, in anticipation of a pick-up in consumer spending, launched a new jewellery brand, Davidowns which will operate within selected Makro stores.  The Davidowns concept of ‘Weigh it and Wear it’ and ‘Gold by the Gram’ is a first for South Africa as it will involve buying of premium jewellery by the gram with the prices adjusted daily according to fluctuations in the gold price.  This concept is expected to lower conventional retail prices by between 25 and 50%.  A pilot store is currently operating in Makro’s Springfield Park store in Durban with another 5 to be rolled out in Makro stores in Gauteng.
