SPUR EXPANDS INTO RURAL AREAS WITH SMALLER RESTAURANTS

With higher rentals, lower margins and tough times affecting franchises globally, restaurant group Spur is looking to expand its footprint into more rural towns with a smaller restaurant format.  As one of the biggest and oldest restaurant franchise groups in the country, Spur believes that there is potential for expansion into more rural towns. Each area is assessed individually and franchisees are assisted in setting up in areas where it sees potential for growth. They have already successfully expanded into areas such as Soweto, Gugulethu, Atteridgeville and Hillbrow where the brand has been well accepted albeit with some new menu items to cater for local tastes.
